Tea Party:
Invite guests to a dress-up celebration to honor the new parents and baby!! Have flowered centerpieces on each table. Serve brunch on nice place settings (borrow the place settings, if need be). Serve tea out of silver tea pots. Compliment decorations with nursery decor accents (teddy bears, giraffes, duckies, etc.). Make the games simple and fun!!
Pamper Mom Shower:
This is a shower thrown specifically to pamper the soon-to-be mom. The decorations should be grown up and am emphasis should be placed on gifts that will help mom relax and take care of herself (gift certificates for take-out, manicures, maternity massages, lounge clothes, etc.) This is a great shower to throw when multiple showers are being thrown for the baby or for a 2nd or 3rd pregnancy!!
Nine Months Pregnant:
This is a fun shower to throw if your event is going to be co-ed. Have each of your guests arrive "nine months pregnant". Encourge them to stuff pillows, etc., underneath their clothing to reveal their pregnant sides!! It is a lot of fun to see the guys participating in this one!!
Diaper Raffle Shower:
Create a really nice gift basket that would appeal to your guests (wine and cheese, movie night, gift certificate variety, etc.). Place a note inside each invitation describing the gift basket and explain that each guest will receive an "entry" into the drawing for EACH package of diapers or wipes that they bring. What a great way to stock the new parents up on these neccesities!!! PLUS one of the guests will get to go home with this wonderful prize!!!
Layette Party:
Prior to the babyshower.....string out a clothesline with clothespins. Have your guests arrive BEFORE the soon-to-be parents and have each guest bring an article of clothing for the new baby (onesies, caps, outfits, mitts, booties, etc.). When the parents arrive....they will see a clothesline full of great clothing for their new little one!!!
Book Shower:
Have the theme of your shower be "Story Books". Ask each guest to bring their favorite storybook to the shower. Decorate with some storybooks and storybook characters of your own!! The cake could even be in the shape of a book with the words "Once Upon A Time There Was A Baby Named Evan" (insert CORRECT name, obviously). Use your imagination and this will be a shower that will have the new little one stocked up on bedime adventures for years to come!!
Poker Theme:
This is a great shower for the guys (could even be thrown in conjunction with a woman's shower!). Create a
poker-tourney with the "buy in" being a package of diapers. Have "prizes" for the winner or winners be great gift
certificates to places like Home Depot or Best Buy. Serve up traditional poker food....and the guys are sure to have
a blast bonding with the new daddy while playing some cards. |
